We know, it’s frustrating, it’s difficult to manage and it’s often hugely debilitating.
PhyxYou Physios Cian McMahon and Harley McAlister have spent many valuable hours with some of the world’s most reputable tendon researchers to gain expertise in the management of tendon problems. This expertise has led to the development of the first Mid-North Coast Tendon Clinic.
We provide research-backed interventions in the management of lower and upper limb tendon pain, and you won’t find your time and money wasted on adjunctive therapies during your rehabilitation.
The key to managing any painful tendon is to maintain as much of your activity as you possibly can without significant increases in pain (we term this as load management) and begin to address weaknesses in both the tendon and the associated muscle groups (strength and control exercise).
The wait and see attitude can help with the resolution of some acutely painful injuries but, unfortunately, rest with tendon injury creates a further reduction in the capacity of the tendon and people often find with return to sport they are capable of even less than before.
Early intervention, advice and corrective exercise is key!
Strength protects and recovers tendons, not rest.
